Hello again!! Happy Hump day. 🙂 Today I have a special announcement: a new Bloggers Giving Back event! Last month, we hosted our very first event: the OC Blogger Brunch. And might I say it went smashingly? We had over 25 bloggers come together at a special little art studio called Great Over Good, where we dined, crafted, mingled, and donated HEAPS of clothing to two charities. Like, seriously, it’s probably more clothes than I’ve ever owned in my life. Maybe.
This month, we’ve got another community-building event that we’re pretty darn excited to share: “Well Boxed.” For this event, we’ll be putting together care packages for soldiers who are living abroad, but don’t receive mail or packages from friends and family back home. As a former expat, I know how meaningful it can be to receive a package full of goodies that remind you of where you’re from (especially when they’re useful things you can’t find in your country abroad…like tampons, ahem). SO, we’re bringing together bloggers from all over so that we can decorate our care packages and send fun and helpful items to our soldiers. We’ll also be dishing out wine and pizza, because this event is just as much about giving back as it is about having a fun girls night with other bloggers in our area. Want to get involved? The SoCal event will be on Saturday, March 29th at 1pm at Great Over Good. But guess what?
This event is worldwide!
So if you live somewhere besides SoCal, you are encouraged to make your own care package and send it to a soldier on March 29th with us! Just use the hashtag #WellBoxed so that we can see your awesome creations! For more information on where to send your package and what you might want to include, visit AnySoldier.com. I will also be holding a linkup on my blog on April 4th, so if you wrote a blog post about the care package you sent, then link it on up! 🙂
Did I mention there’s another event in Arizona?
Yes ma’am! Not only are we encouraging worldwide participation, but we’ve also got another Bloggers Giving Back committee getting started in Arizona! If you’re interested in going to their event to make your care package and meet other Arizona bloggers, please email Kai at hellocoffeekai@gmail.com. Woop woop!!
> > Want to sponsor this event and gain exposure for your business? < <
We are ALWAYS looking for new sponsors for our events. Whether you’d like to make a monetary donation or send items that we can use for the event (or for swag bags for guests), we’d LOVE to discuss partnering together. Please contact me so that we can discuss how you might be able to help! Sponsors are promoted at the event and in blog posts written by hosts and guests — lots of exposure for your business. 🙂
If I’ve confused you at all, then Jessica wrote a killer post about a care package she sent to a soldier, which you can check out right here.
Below, you can purchase admission to this event. Admission includes wine, pizza, a box, craft supplies to decorate your box, a few small supplies to get your box started (please bring some of your own items as well), and the cost to ship your box overseas. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. 😉 Tickets are limited, so please be sure to RSVP as soon as you can! See you on the 29th!! Please contact me if you have any questions.
p.s. Are you interested in starting a Bloggers Giving Back group in your city? I am always looking for leaders who would like to bring together other bloggers in their area. Please contact me if you’d like more information! 🙂

What an awesome cause! I’m looking forward to hearing how it goes + researching how I can get involved from afar!
WoohooO!! Hopefully you can make a box with us from afar! 🙂
Yay! Excited that this is taking off, friend! See you in a few weeks!
WOOHOO! Excited to see you again m’dear!! 🙂
Hey if you’re planning any charity event that involves baking, let me know 🙂 I would love to lend a hand!

Yay! Glad you like it Kathryn! 🙂
Yay! I can’t wait. 😉
Woohoo!
this is so sweet! I wonder if watercolor cards or prints would be fun in the goodie bags?!
I think those would be AWESOME in goodie bags, Annie!
I sooo wish i was in Cali right now!! I would LOVE to be a part of these awesome blogger events! I’m actually thinking it would be super fun to plan an event here in Okinawa, but i’m not sure there’s enough bloggers here! Definitely keeping it in mind 😉
DO IT! I bet there are more than you think 😉
This is such an AMAZING and thoughtful idea!! I love it! If i lived in SoCal, I would totally join this event. Thinking about creating a box myself . . . or maybe plan an event here in FL. 🙂
Yes and yes!! Would love for you to create your own box or event. 🙂
This is such a great idea! I love Bloggers Giving Back! It’s such a great idea with even a greater purpose. I hope I can attend one day when I move back 🙂 It looks like a ton of fun.
YEAH! Would love for you to join in one day 🙂
What a great idea! I had to laugh when I saw your comment about receiving care packages. I spent three months in West Africa when I was 18 and I was told to bring a supply of feminine products for my stay because they didn’t have anything that was quite the same.
haha I was told the same thing when I went to Japan!
LOVE this idea! My husband is a soldier and it makes me so sad to see his friends who don’t have supportive families. When he was in training I would bring my dog to the barracks to cheer up all the single soldiers. You don’t know how often I heard “Ma’am, may I pet your dog? I haven’t seen my dog for a year and I miss him so much.” Broke my heart, but my puppy was always delighted to give them a piece of home! Never underestimate the power of furry friends! Be sure to include a picture of Monja in the box – I guarantee it will bring a huge smile to that lucky soldier’s face! (:
Aww that’s so sweet of you! I feel like animals just make lives better. 🙂
