The Creative Collective is a year-long community building, creative program (though you can jump in and join us at any time!). I’ve thought of 23 fun activities for us to do (roughly two/month), which are designed to help you exert creativity in all its forms — from writing and photography to painting and even bartending, we’re going to get creative in the best ways! Just visit this post to read all of the year’s prompts. On the specified day, I will hold a link up here, on my blog, where you can share a blog post or photo related to YOUR project. Then, we can all peruse each other’s artwork and make new friends to fuel our creativity during 2014. Can I get a WOOOOOHOOOOOO?
Here’s today’s prompt:
Take a Skillshare class
Easy enough, right? I ended up enrolling in two Skillshare classes (and “wish listing” like ten…) because I just couldn’t decide. The two that I opted for were “Styling Your Space Like a Pro” taught by Justina Blakeney (Love her!!) and “The First Steps of Hand-Lettering: Concept to Sketch.” I narrowed it down to these two classes because lately I’ve been really into both interior styling and hand lettering and would love some professional direction on my new hobbies. I like Skillshare classes because you can do them at your own pace and they’re cheap ways to get insider knowledge and pro advice. Plus, they’re just fun, right? 🙂 I am still working through my classes, so I don’t have a whole lot to show today, but that image at the top was a piece I did that was inspired by my hand-lettering class! And come to think of it, the way it’s styled might have been influenced by my styling class?? Didn’t even think of that! I don’t usually draw, but my lettering class made me want to broaden my spectrum a bit more and I really love what I created. It’s also helped me create lots more pieces in a similar style and I feel like I’m starting to get into my groove. Which Skillshare class did you take for this week’s theme? Share it in the link up below! I can’t wait to see everything that y’all decided to learn. 🙂 And here are a few pretty pictures from my teachers, based on the themes of the classes I’m taking. 🙂

Our Next Prompt Is…
“Become a Pseudo-Bartender.” Create a new cocktail recipe. Give it a fun name and serve it to your friends if you can! I’m super excited for this one! I think it will be super fun and I’m already brainstorming ideas. 🙂 This one will be featured here on March 19th, so get to experimenting soon!

Although I more or less failed this task … I still wrote a post about it,because it was the perfect opportunity to tell about all the MOOCs I’m enrolled in 😉
But the hand-lettering class you took looks pretty awesome. It’s definitely going on my wishlist!
Have a great day!
Love, Midsommarflicka
i just went on skillshare for the first time today! i’m going to be filling my time with all their classes from now on : )
DO EEET! You can take that interior styling class for styling your RV 😉
Very fun! I love that you are finding ways to increase your creativity and others.
I am a big fan of Skillshare! You’re doing better than me if you only signed up for two classes. I signed up for five awhile ago (I just couldn’t decide!) but have slowly been making my way through them because life has been busy. 🙂 The hand lettering class that you’re in is one that I’m signed up for.
That’s awesome! It’s SO hard to decide. I’ve added like 20 to my “wish list” haha
I’m taking the same handlettering class!!! Uh – my post is gonna be late but I’ll get to it by tomorrow!! 🙂
OHH! Let me know how it is if you’ve finished it. I’m excited to dive in!
I have to say that I’m actually quite disappointed in the participation for this one 🙁 No judgement at all, but I was really looking forward to seeing what other Skillshare classes everyone else took. I loved the couple I took and was hoping to see some other recommendations.
I have never heard of Skillshare. Finding more ways to be creative and learning new things is never a bad thing!
Amen to that!
i’m taking the calligraphy class right now… but just did the intro. did you end up buying the same tools she said? like the nikko g nib? they aren’t at any of the local craft stores that i’ve been to.
Yes I did buy the ones she recommended! I haven’t seen them at any stores around town either, so I did buy them from the site she mentioned. The Nikko G nib is my favorite!
styling your space like a pro sounds really interesting too! i’m always envious of how collected all the home photos are on pinterest. 😛
same HERE girl!
