My job as a graphic designer/blogger is odd sometimes and includes a lengthy array of miscellaneous tasks — some which feel like work and others that I’d probably be doing whether I had to or not. One of my favorite things to do is maintain my Pinterest account, which I also use when I work with design clients. I think Pinterest is a visual mecca of inspiration and I enjoy looking back at my account since it seems like a big splatter of who I am. I find a similar joy in looking at other people’s accounts and seeing artistic scraps of who they are. I thought I’d share a few pins that really caught my eye recently. I love things that are either black and white in a modern, traditional way, or full of warm, carefree colors. Enjoy! There’s also a cute japan-centric giveaway today — be sure to scroll down and enter!

Now I get to introduce you to one of my featured sponsors, Shell of Kitty and Buck. Shell lives in Australia as a graphic designer and animator and her sweet blog is full of everything from useful DIY projects (these Japanese book covers are super cute!) to advice on quitting your day job. Now that she works for herself, she also has lots of tips for the aspiring freelancer in her Work Your Way series. Shell also happens to be incredibly kind, driven, and as obsessed with Japan as I am, so obviously I adore her! Below you can check out a mini-interview with Shell and enter a giveaway with items from Japan from this generous girl!
What is your biggest dream for the future?
Do you have any advice for someone who wants to work for themselves?

What makes you happy?
Music, nature, adventure. Making human connections in the most unlikely circumstances. Pillows, afternoon naps, baking, blanket forts and my cats. Sharing support and love with my family and friends.
What do you do to stay creative?

Two of my favorite bloggers at once?!! I love it! Shell is such a sweet lady! And this Japan loot is pretty epic too. Fingers crossed 🙂
Well aren’t you sweet! And I agree — Shell is totally awesome. 🙂
I love Pinterest. I use it mostly for school…I get lots of great teaching ideas from it. I love those cardboard cutouts, I am going to save it for future reference. Off to visit Shell. 🙂
So true!! I used to be a teacher and always found really awesome ideas through Pinterest.
