At the beginning of this year, I launched a project called The Creative Collective — a yearlong adventure that involves 23 out-of-the-box prompts, aimed at helping you (and me!) get creative in unique, fun ways. I loved it at first, and the initial response from you all was incredible. But over time, participation started to decline and the whole thing felt like more of an obligation for me than something I looked forward to or had time to do well. It took me WAY too long to admit this (#toomuchpride), so I just kind of brushed it aside and hoped no one would notice (#yeahright). But you did notice! And you continued to participate even when I didn’t. For anyone who’s still interested in the Creative Collective, I want to dust off the cobwebs and reintroduce it in a way that feels fulfilling and awesome for the both of us.
Previously, I’d do each CC prompt and host a linkup here on my blog, where you could share your own projects with other participants. Now, instead of doing a linkup, I’d love to utilize social media and have us share our projects using the hashtag #TNCCreativeCollective. Using a hashtag will work similarly to having a linkup, since you can easily search it on Twitter and Instagram and find others who shared their own take on the same project! If enough people participate, I’ll also be sharing my favorite participant projects (with a link to your blog) in roundups here on my site. I’ll also retweet or re-Instagram any tagged (#TNCCreativeCollective) projects that catch my eye. I was SO amazed when I went back through the past linkups (check ’em out here!) because you all are so.damn.creative. You’ve already made such unique works of art and I can’t wait to see what else you dream up!
You can view all of the upcoming prompts here, but you’re more than welcome to do any of the previous prompts, too! I hope this change feels good and that you’ll rekindle your #TNCCreativeCollective relationship. Below, I’ve included some of my favorite projects that you all shared in the past, so that you can get an idea of how future roundups will work! How neat are these?!

Cucumber Rose Gin + Tonic // Flamingo-Inspired Plant Pot
Indigo Photo Hunt // DIY Potato Stamping
DIY Leather Macbook Case // Neon Washi Tape Wall
Fresh Antique Jewelry // Word of the Year
Fire Escapes Photo Hunt // A Mama Photo Hunt
The next prompt is on September 17th (check it out here!), but you’re welcome to share it sooner or do an old prompt, if you’d like! Just share your project on Instagram or Twitter (you’re welcome to share it on your blog, too!) and use the hashtag #TNCCreativeCollective. You can also go back and tag your old photos with the hashtag, so that people can start checking out your previous work. I still plan to participate when I can and hope you will, too! Thanks for being so understanding about my, ahem, hiatus. 😉

YAY! I’m glad you’re bringing it back in some fashion. 🙂
WOO! I hope you’ll be able to participate. 🙂
I love the idea of using the hash tag! I wanted to participate more than I did, but I always forgot that a linkup was coming and when I remembered I didn’t have enough time to prepare. There are some that I definitely want to do that I missed. Thanks for featuring my word of the year! I had a lot of fun with that one and I still have it hanging on the back of my bedroom door so that I see it every day. 🙂
Ha! That is exactly how I felt about forgetting that the linkup was coming and not having enough time to prepare. I love that you still display your word of the year art though! It’s so neat!
Yeah! I can’t wait for this!! I’m a new follower and didn’t know about the Creative Collective. I am so in love with the idea. Isn’t the Internet great like this, though? Creating, sharing, inspiring with people all over the world? I can’t get enough. I’m so looking forward to hashtagging whatever I come up with and seeing what everyone else creates!!
The What’s In Between
WOO! Thanks for following Zoe, and I totally hope you’ll join us! 🙂
Great plan! Glad it’s coming back. The prompts were really good, but the fact that I had to always put together a blog post just to do the prompt got a little exhausting. Using social media is a great way to go! Thanks for featuring me too! much love.
I so know how you felt, Abby! Hopefully this will be easier for all of us 🙂
Oh man, I need to get back on schedule with that too! Lost track of everything this summer. Thanks for including my Indigo hunt in the round-up, so sweet of you! 🙂
I was majorly SWOONing on that indigo hunt of yours! Beautiful, Chelsea!
So happy to see this coming back! I definitely like the hashtag idea better, it makes it more fun to just do it and not worry so much about writing an entire post to go with it necessarily! Also, thanks for including my little flamingo pal, he’s still happily hanging out next to my bed 😀
WOO! Glad you like this idea, Jess! You always have such creative ideas, so I’m excited to see what else you create 😀
Yay!
Woo!
Aww Mel! Thanks for including my leather mac book case as one of your favorites! Honored.
I think the #hashtag is a great idea! A little less stressful and easier to manage! Two thumbs up!
I was blown away by your macbook case! It’s so.freakin.good. And glad you like the #hashtag idea, Jon! 🙂
I’ve been missing out on reading TNC lately, but now I’m all caught up. 🙂
Anyways, I think that the social media hastag idea is great! I really like the one for September too… I can’t wait to try it! I like some of the prompts from earlier this year as well. I’m so glad you are revamping the Creative Collective!
Thanks for catching up, Zoe! 🙂 And I’m glad you like this idea — hope you will join! 🙂
The flamingos are so cute, the DIY leather MacBook case is much needed, and the neon washi tape walls are EXACTLY what I need (but didn’t know until now) to decorate my new college dorm room! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
WOOO! Love that you’d be using other people’s ideas! Spreadin’ that creativity!
Yay!!!!! I’m so excited you’re reviving this! 😀 Great idea to have a unique hashtag for the challenge. I’ve participated in most of these but missed the date on the “Mystery Chef” challenge. I’m definitely going to do that one and I already have my random words for my story (calm & perch)!
It’s so fun creating things in a way I’m not used to normally doing and getting inspired by seeing what others coming up with! 🙂
You are so stinkin’ awesome, Ashley! I love your enthusiasm and that you’ve been keeping up with the prompts. I’ll be on the lookout for your future posts! 🙂
I must say that I am so happy I started blogging because in that time I’ve found so many great blogs and people and you are one of them. This is a great idea and can’t wait to start. I’m loving the ‘A Mama Photo Hunt’ pic. Too cute!
Thank you Renee! 🙂 I’ve met some great people through blogging too, and I’m glad you’re finding the same! 🙂
I was wondering where this project went and I’m excited to participate in it again!! 🙂
YAY! 🙂
