Hello lovers! HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! Whether you’ve got big plans tonight or you’re looking forward to slobber kisses from your dog, I hope you have a great GREAT Valentine’s Day! Soak up the love this weekend. 🙂
I used to do a weekly series (waaaay back when) called “Links I Love,” where I’d share some of my favorite recent articles and links from around the web. Since I feel like I’ve stumbled on so many awesome things lately, I thought it would be a nice change of pace to share ’em with you this weekend. Check them out below and say hi to a couple of my sponsors while you’re at it. 🙂 Have a marvelous weekend, everyone!!
Completely agree with this “one question you should never have to ask while on a date.”
What do you think it takes to raise happy kids? Here’s what science says. (These are also great tips for just being happy people!).
I need these shoes and these shoes in my life.
“No One Brings Dinner When Your Daughter Is An Addict.” Such a wonderful article about the way our society ignores mental illness.
What does English sound like to non-English speakers? This. Interesting!
A short film that shows men what it’s like to be women in certain ways. Really enjoyed this thought-provoking piece.
As much as I love the recent media talk and campaigns about loving curvy bodies, this piece completely spoke to how I’ve always felt: not all real women have curves.
So in love with everything on this site.
One of my close friends did a TEDx talk about travel and it kicks ass.
I wish it was cold enough in California to need anything like this pretty coat.

I pretty much love everything in this eclectic Etsy shop.

Alix of Alix Hamilton

Alix is a unique little lady. She works as a freelance musician, specifically, she’s a classical violist (how many of those do you know?!). But you can learn all about her right here. She lives in Australia, but much of her blog documents her obsession with travel (and also baking!). Want to know how the obsession started? Check out this post. In case you need to feed your wanderlust, I suggest this one with the gorgeous Italian countryside or this one of the world-famous Stonehenge. Like I mentioned, Alix is also a baker and combines her two passions in this de-licious looking article! Go pay Alix a visit for yummy recipes and travel tidbits!

Jenn of Near and Far Montana
Jenn is a globe-trotter putting down roots in Montana. She has plenty of fun posts, with everything from this one about her trip to Chile to this one about stepping out of your comfort zone. She’s also got some really cool home improvement posts, like this one and also this one, thus making her way too hardcore for Pinterest. Jenn also shares lots of real posts about her life. I appreciated this one about finding balance and totally loved this one about how instead of setting resolutions, she declares each year a “Year of Jenn.” Go say hi to this sweet blogger — she’s got a little bit of everything! 🙂

I love that article “Not all real women have curves.” I don’t understand why people feel the need to define what a “real women” looks like. All women are real women, no matter what shape or size they are.
I hope you have a Happy Valentine’s Day too! I am celebrating with dog kisses and giving her tummy rubs and watching the Olympics with my niece and nephew.
Couldn’t agree more, Crystal! 🙂 Your v-day sounds an awful lot like mine did. 🙂 I hope it was fabulous!
Ahh I love these kinds of posts! It’s nice to have a list of awesome things to peruse and read. Especially on a night like this. It will go lovely with my glass of port and drop biscuit blueberry peach cobbler! Have a lovely V-Day lady 🙂
I have no idea what a drop biscuit is, but it sounds incredible! Happy late v-day, darlin’!
Happy Valentine to you, and Monja! 🙂
Umm… And I really enjoyed this post. I guess the Links I love linkup should come back! :)) I would love to participate, and can only imagine how many great thins could be found around the web if each of us would share the ones we love! 🙂
Oh My! I probably would go bankrupt, but oh well.. :)))
Happy late Valentines to you, Vaida!! Maybe I’ll bring this old series back. 🙂
Love this! I hope you continue doing it! xo
Well shucks, maybe I will. 🙂
Great TED talk – thanks for sharing. Now off to plan some travel…

Glad you liked it! 🙂
Woooosshhh. No one brings dinner when your daughter is an addict was so wonderfully written! And so, so true! My brother had an incident right around the time I started radiation again last year and everyone really tiptoed around him and his “problem” whereas speaking of my illness everyone was a lot more relaxed and open. I think if we were all just a little more open minded and supportive about everyone’s situations, those recovering could move along in the process a lot quicker. People seem to approach addiction and mental illnesses as something that only happens to “crazy” people. Great post Melyssa! Hope you and Monja had a lovely Valentine’s Day!
I couldn’t agree MORE, Jessica! It’s interesting (and sad) to me that mental health issues are oddly taboo or awkward to discuss, when other diseases or illnesses aren’t. I hope we can work on that during our generation — it’s such a big social problem to me.
Happy late Valentine’s Day! 🙂
I love that article about 5 emails to send! Thanks for sharing.
Me too! So simple and powerful 🙂
Wow! What an inspirational Ted talk by your friend! It is so heartfelt and beautifully articulated. It reminded me of what my friends mom, who is a retired flight attendant, told me once: “Traveling is an educational blessing.” So true! Thanks for the links love! 🙂
So glad you liked it! He’s a great person! 🙂
Yessss to so many of these! Love these articles, and the shoes!
Glad you liked them, Destiny! 🙂
I love this roundup–especially that video and the Slate article. And can I just give your friend’s TedX talk a fist pump? Awesome.
I bet he’d fist pump right back atcha! 🙂
