Hey there and welcome to Weekly Wishes, where I talk about the goals or challenges I want to achieve this week and also let you share your own through the link-up below. I’d love for you to join me and add a link to your own goal-oriented post! It’s a great way to make new friends from around the world and gain some motivation to achieve your weekly aspirations.
Welp, July was a pretty good month! I got out and explored a lot more, which I think I really needed. This past weekend, I went up to LA to visit some eateries (like Milk!) and the Griffith Observatory — beautiful! We also went to a farmers market and picked up fresh food to cook lunch and dinner with (like this!), which was fun and healthy. The only recent downside is that Monja hasn’t been feeling like his best self and woke up a few times last night with a bad fit of wheezing, sneezing, and red eyes. I think he might have allergies (at least, I hope that’s all it is!), but we’re going to the vet later today to get him looked at. If you can, keep my little fuzzball in your positive thoughts. I hope he feels better soon.
How was your July?
Last Month’s Wishes
- Improve my shop. Still working on it, but I added a few new prints and re-did the look of the shop images. I still think I’d like to change up the look of the product images, but it works for now! Below is one of my new favorite prints!
- Open a savings account. I did! And I started saving, too! 🙂
- Work on a new project I’ve got brewing in my head. Yep! Still a ways to go, but I’ve definitely been working on it.
- Look into getting a new computer. I looked into some options, now I just need to save! Hopefully I can get a new one later this year.
- Be more intentional. Yes and no. I still spend too much time aimlessly in front of the computer, BUT I did get out of the house a whole lot more last month! I think I’m getting there!
This Month’s Wishes
- Finish the e-book I’m working on. I’ve got the outline finished, now I just need to pour out all the advice and info I can muster up!
- Launch a new service I’ve been working on (this week!). I’ve pretty much got everything all finished up and I’m pretty excited to share this new offering.
- Go to a music festival. I have tickets to FYF, a two-day festival in LA. It’s been too long, music!
- Try to finish my big project for a September launch date. This will be tough, but I know I need to work harder about setting deadlines for my projects, so I’m going to shoot for this!
- Save 50% of my income. Toward the end of last month, I immediately put 50% of all the money I received into my savings account. It was hard, but felt good! I’m not sure if I can reasonably do it for all of August, but I’ll try! 🙂
- Finish two books. My reading binge took a little break recently, but I want to hop on the wagon and finish some new reads. I’m currently digging The Desire Map, anyone read it?

Oh poor Monja, I do hope he feels better soon. Am also looking for a new computer, well laptop, I’m well overdue one – but need to save too! And speaking of saving, 50% wow that’s awesome, I hope I can do that one day! Good luck with book writing and all your other goals for the month 🙂
Monja is feeling a lot better now, thanks Cheryn! And hopefully we can get new laptops sometime soon. 🙂
I love your weekly wishes! I also need to work on saving my income as well…I love the idea of setting aside a whopping 50%! I think that’s going to be my new goal 🙂 xx
The What’s In Between
Do it!! It’s hard, but worth it. 🙂 Good luck, Zoe!
I’m actually starting a book club for The Desire Map this week! I’m loving what I’ve read so far (and absolute adore Danielle La Porte).
How awesome! I can imagine a book club for that kind of book would be really effective and help people want to accomplish their goals even more!
I’m hoping that’s the effect it has! I’m a Health Coach, so if this test group goes over well I’m hoping to offer it to clients every 6 months or so!
I’m reading and working through the Desire Map too! Very interesting read!! Have you gotten to the workbook section yet?
It is interesting, huh!! I actually don’t think I bought the workbook (I’m reading the kindle edition). Do you like it?
Poor Monja! I will definitely keep him in my thoughts. I hope all goes well at the vet. I’ve been dealing with allergies this year too, so I feel for the little guy. 🙂 Great job with your goals last month, and for saving 50% of your income! That’s amazing. Good luck with your goals this month.
Thank you Crystal! Monja is feeling a lot better now, so I’m really happy! Good luck with your goals, too. 🙂
I love The Desire Map. I have started reading the book and stopped. good goals for august.
Hi Mel:
Your prints are lovely! Later I’ll watch all the items in your Etsy shop (one of my monthly goals is to organize my shop and re-open it at September).
Can’t wait to read more about your new services and projects! I’ll look forward them, hope you can accomplish all your monthly goals.
Have a nice week, I hope Monja gets well soon ♥.
Thank you so much Cori! 🙂 Good luck with your shop, too. And Monja is feeling much better now — yay!! 🙂
Savings are so hard, but so nice to have! I much prefer having them to not.
I love all of your prints! They’re so much fun! 🙂
I totally agree. 🙂 And thanks so much, Stacia! 🙂
I haven’t read all of The Desire Map but I am a big fan of Danielle LaPorte and I love her approach to goal-setting. I try to incorporate her philosophy in the goals I set, though sometimes it’s hard to know what I truly desire outside of the influence of other people/society. 🙂 But yay! Have you encountered any of her work before?
I totally know what you mean! I really dig the concept, but can also see how it’d be difficult — maybe because I’ve programmed myself so much to think of goals in terms of other things. I haven’t really encountered her work before, besides subscribing to her daily love bombs (I think that’s what they’re called?), but I dig her!
I love that print! Good luck with the savings goal, my trouble is never putting it into savings, but keeping it in savings at the end of the month.
Thanks so much Kasey! Good luck with your own savings, too. 😉
That print is absolutely GORGEOUS. I may have to head over to your shop and indulge a little 😉 Also, it’s so exciting that you’re working on an ebook. I can’t wait to read! xoxo
You’re so sweet, thank you Alyssa!! 🙂
Awesome job with opening up a savings account and saving! I also need to be more intentional about saving. But I’ve been making progress on it, too! I love these goals for the month, and I am super excited about all these secret projects and your e-book! So fun, girl! And I admire all your hard work and talent!
Thank you so much for your support, Gina! You’re too sweet. 🙂
Savings goal is always exciting, especially when you see the figures increase! I have been working on mine, though not as good as J, but it’s still something. Good luck!
Good luck to you, too, Elizabeth! I know it’s tough, but feels so good! 🙂
I am in the midst of The Desire Map. Love Danielle LaPorte, heard her speak in Sydney recently and she was fabulous
How awesome! I can imagine she’d be a wonderful speaker.
I have been loving all of your prints you have been sharing via Instagram! I will have to check out your shop soon:)
Cheers,
Alyson
AW that makes me so happy! Thank you so much for your support darlin’! 🙂
July felt a little bit like a whirlwind around here! Lots of changes and transitions for me. I’m looking forward to a calmer, slower August and getting through some fun projects. 🙂
So looking forward to hearing about your new offers. An e-book from you sounds like it would be awesome.
Thanks, as always, for the link up.
Glad August should be more relaxed for you, Kristen! And thank you so much for your support. That means a lot! 🙂
We are inching our way towards the last student loan payments and then I’m REALLY Excited to start building up our savings for the future! Good for you girl! 🙂
That’s awesome, Erin! I bet that will feel amazing once it’s paid off. 🙂
