March is one of my favorite floral months. Everything starts blooming for Spring, and the colors are so rich and beautiful! I find myself picking up flowers every time I go to the grocery store (I’m looking at you, $4 Trader Joe’s bouquets! ). As much as I love having fresh blooms in a vase, it’s always fun thinking of creative ways to display these natural beauties. If you find yourself with a little bit of extra time and want to give your flowers new life, you’ll want to makeĀ this vintage-inspired DIY floral art piece. It’s incredibly simple, makes excellent home decor (or a fun gift!), and working with flowers just puts you in the best mood ever!

Here’s what you need:
-Fresh flowers (I love carnations, roses, and ranunculus this time of year)
-Frame of your choice (I purchased mine for $4 at a thrift store)
-Needle & thread
-Scissors
-Clear scotch tape
Here’s what you do:
1. Start off by removing the glass and backing of your frame. You won’t need any of it for this tutorial, but you can save it in case you want to use your frame again after your flowers dry out. Cut the stems off your flowers, preferably at an angle so they last a little longer.
2. Prep your needle and thread.
3. Run your needle through the middle of your flower, and pull your thread through. Line up as many flowers in a row as you’d like, my size frame fit 3. Thread all your flowers together.
4. Tie both ends of your thread to lock in your flowers, and gently press your thread onto the back of the frame and secure with tape. I was a little unsure about this at first, but the row of flowers is fairly light so the tape holds everything up just perfectly.
