It’s 4:00pm here in California now and I just wanted to check in for a quick hello. I rarely write posts as simple as this one, but today is a simple, yet magnificent day and I wanted to tell you why.
The first thing I did this morning was chat with a very sweet client whose website I will be re-designing, starting tomorrow. Most of my client interaction is done through email, but this little lady occasionally requests phone calls and after the inspiring chats I’ve had with her, I’m almost thinking of adding phone calls into my normal client routine. There is just something special about connecting with the people you serve, especially when they are creatives who make waves around the world.
After having a nice chat with Kate, I showered and got ready — something I admittedly don’t always do every morning when I work from home (I do bathe every night though). It feels nice to put a little effort into who you are and to wash away the grime of yesterday, both physical and mental.
Next, Monja and I went for a walk. Monja has recently become “leash reactive,” meaning that he goes ape shit when he sees another dog during our walks. He never used to be like this and was once always so excited to meet other dogs. Now he is reminiscent of Cujo and I have hired a trainer who can hopefully help us sort out his doggy issues. But that is all besides the point because we had a nice walk and I got to feel today’s 88-degree sunshine on all corners of my face.
Next, I hopped in the car and ran three errands: depositing Christmas money into my bank account (always fun to see your savings increase), bought coffee (a staple in my diet), and purchased supplies for my Creative Collective project. All the while, I had my windows down with Belle & Sebastian — the perfect sunshine music — echoing from my speakers. When I arrived home, I made my #CreativeCollective art piece and had so much fun in the process. I really am thrilled for this year-long project, because today’s hour of creation reminded me how powerful it can be to just let your mind loose. Now, I’m buckling down to do some design and blog work. I’ll probably be at my desk until 8 or 9, but I couldn’t be happier. Today is not technically a special day, but it sure feels like it is.
Now, I could have sat here and told you about the mishaps of today — that Monja ate one of my earrings while I was in the shower, or that it took me two failed attempts before I made a Creative Collective project that I actually liked. But when I look back on my day, the mistakes are not what stand out, and usually, they aren’t. What really stands out is the feeling of it all. Today I feel radiant and inspired.
If you want to be part of the Creative Collective, check out the prompts here. The first community link-up is tomorrow! I can’t wait to see what you all share. 🙂 Have a beautiful Tuesday, everyone.

It sounds like you had a great day! It all depends on how you look at it.
It was indeed, Crystal! And I totally agree 🙂
Sounds like an awesome day to me! I’m pretty jealous of the nice weather. It was 10 degrees C and raining in Nova Scotia today :S
I’m going to be participating in future creative collectives but I was wondering how the link up happens? Do we email you with the link to our blog post?
Totally awesome! And WOW that’s so cold! I also think you may be one of the first readers I’ve encountered from Nova Scotia — how cool! 🙂 And I’m not sure if you saw the post on Wednesday, but there is a little button at the bottom of the Creative Collective posts that says “Add Your Link.” Just click that and you can share your link in the post. 🙂
Sounds fun! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings 🙂
Wooohooo! 🙂
Sometimes you just need a day like that! SO EXCITED for tomorrow’s link up!
Totally agree! And YAY! Love your enthusiasm. 🙂
Driving around Orange County on a day like that is really perfection! Not sure what kind of coffee you are into but in Eastside Costa Mesa there is a place called Pie-Not and they have amazing Australian coffee!
Isn’t it though? Always makes me smile. 🙂 And I THINK I drove past that place yesterday actually! I’ll have to check it out. 🙂
Yeah it is down the street from Keane on 17th!
Sounds like such a lovely day, always so nice when you can drive around with the windows down and enjoy the warmth of the sunshine! Looking forward to the Creative Collective link up!
It’s just the best, isn’t it? 🙂
This post, this post! Made me smile real big 🙂 What a mindset!
Ahhh I am so happy about that, Caroline! 🙂
It’s so inspiring to hear you look back on your day and leave out all
the bad stuff, because you’re right–why would you want to focus on it?
🙂 I’m so excited to see The Creative Collective project begin!
Thank you Carly! And I love your enthusiasm about the CC! I’m excited too 🙂
What normally causes dogs to be leach reactive? I hope you figure it out soon so that both of you can enjoy your walks to their fullest extent.
In other news, I’m really enjoying the Creative Collective idea and have them worked in to my editorial calendar for the year. Because of this, I normally would have skipped over the comment about Belle & Sebastian and just thought, “hm, never heard of them,” but instead I looked them up. I like their sound. 🙂
Good question! I’ve heard/read a number of things, from being protective to having had a bad experience with dogs. Not too sure in Monja’s case, but we hired a behavioralist so hopefully they can help us figure it out! 🙂
And I love that you’re going to join the CC this year! I double love that it pushed you to check out Belle & Sebastian. They’re always one of my favorite fall-backs. 🙂
I really like them! They’re definitely making their way on to my playlist for the next CC. 🙂
The Creative Collective sounds fun! Can’t wait! 🙂
WOOHOO! Glad you like it 🙂
