Hello dear ol’ friends. I’m currently writing to you from my bedroom office, which doesn’t sound like anything too spectacular, but considering where I first wrote TNC posts (answer: my ex-boyfriend’s bedroom where I was the third-wheel roommate for several months), it certainly feels like something’s changed. Since publishing my first post on The Nectar Collective back in February of this year, I have quit two jobs and started a third, my own business. I’ve moved to two new apartments, one being across an ocean. I’ve ended an important relationship and started countless others. I even got a dog — which was quite possibly the only thing I did this year that was better than starting this blog.
Over the past (almost) 11 months, this blog has become like a priceless piece of art to me — somehow encapsulating everything from my most extreme emotions to my best advice. And aside from being a sort of diary that I can’t keep my hands off of, it’s given me more opportunities than I can count on both hands — the biggest being the chance to start my own business, to earn money from blogging and writing, and to give me the confidence and encouragement to follow my dreams, even if at one point in my life they seemed a little impossible. Even now, almost a year later, I feel so revved up to keep the momentum here going, to constantly improve this space and myself, and to reach out to more and more of the people who frequent this site. So thanks for making this place special for the both of us. Today, I thought it’d be fun to do a little trip down memory lane to recap 2013 on TNC. Enjoy! And of course, thank you.

So 2013 treated you right and HURRAY FOR THE FIRST YEAR OF THE NECTAR COLLECTIVE! I loved seeing all the posts, because I think I read just about all of the ones you included? My favorites definitely had to be the Japan and Blog advice posts. Loved it all and I hope that 2014 is just as big for The Nectar Collective! 🙂
Such a creative post! I love seeing the progression of headers!
Awe! This makes me so happy! I love seeing old posts that I have yet to stalk. And seeing your old designs. I started following when you had the second one and it was one of the things that drew me to you page!
I love reading your posts about Japan! I’ve never been there but I think it’s always interesting to see foreigner’s perspective about a country! Also, it’s interesting to see different header styles… You changed your mind a lot didn’t you? Haha
Aww this is awesome. Congrats on such an awesome year and continue being an inspiration in 2014 please. Ta very much!
Sounds like you`ve had a wonderful year, I can`t believe how quickly you have grown this blog. I enjoyed reading some of your older articles, especially conversations with Keiji since I have similar conversations with my dad who is Japanese!
Big changes for you this year but it also sounds like a good year for you. I hope 2014 will continue to bring all that’s good 🙂
2013 has def been a good but crazy year for you. And I am sure 2014 will be an even better year!
What a fantastic year for you and Nectar Collective! 2014 will be even better I’m sure!
You’ve had a great year Mel and I’m sure 2014 will be even better for you and your blog (and Monja, of course)! Ha who knew: I also agree the ocean is terrifying and am an empath myself. Cool commonalities 🙂 Have a great New Year! -Iva
What an amazing year! I’ve only been around for the second half of it, but I was impressed from the moment I first randomly landed on The Nectar Collective. I’m so happy we happened to pop into each other’s worlds when we did… you should totally be proud of what you accomplished! You are an inspiration to so many people, myself included! Honestly, you make things that were out of reach seem so possible! I cannot believe you have your own business now but it makes such total sense and AHHHH I am so happy for you, Mel!!! I hope that in 2014, we can meet in person somehow! (I might be visiting California at some point and if I am we can make that happen!) Anyway, best best best wishes for a bright and even shinier 2014 for you! YOU DESERVE IT YOU WONDERFUL WOMAN YOU!
PS. I am so excited to be included on the guest post list! AHHHH!
What a great post! I love all your different designs. 🙂 I’m usually pretty much a plain jane, but this last year I’ve changed my design…maybe 4 times? I wish I would have taken screen shots of each one!! Whoops. Very informative post dear! Glad you did this. 🙂
Such a great list and an awesome year for you! Looking forward to all the awesomeness you have coming in 2014!
I love the collage of all the headers you have got through! So fun!
